Butterflies
is the Key Lead Agency globally to
conceptualise and implement an innovative concept and
Project 'The Bal
Vikas Bank' (as referred in India) / 'The
Children’s Development Bank' (as referred
internationally).
From
credit union to the Children's Development Bank (Bal Vikas
Bank) is a natural development and evolution of our saving
and credit union scheme. This bank works on banking and
co-operative principles. Any child can save money with the
bank and earn an interest as well as loans are given to
any bank member who is 15 years and above for small
economic enterprises. The bank is managed by children and
adults only play the role of facilitators.

The Children’s Development Bank
(CDB), an interesting Butterflies project, is managed
by Butterflies nationally and internationally.

Butterflies networks
with grassroot NGOs across states and countries
for partnership for this initiative.

It
interact with partners and provides technical support
to them, set up and implement a monitoring and
evaluation system against which the milestones
are tracked, conceptualize and implement several
innovations within the project.
At present the CDB initiative is in Four
countries India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal and
within India in Leh (J&K), Chennai (Tamil Nadu),
Mujaffarpur (Bihar) and Kolkata (West Bengal). Butterflies
intends to expand it globally over the next two years time
and reach other neighbouring countries along with
countries in the Latin America, Africa and Central Asia.
